FILM

Tinga Tinga Tales has its African Premiere at ZIFF 2010 beginning tomorrow!

Every evening before the main film in the old fort a Tinga Tinga film will be screened 19:00-19:15. It is free to all Zanzibaris.

Created for children all over the world Tinga Tinga Tales is inspired by traditional animal stories from Africa and the Tingatinga art of Tanzania .

Tinga Tinga Tales brings to life fantastical tales of how your favourite animals came to be. Ever wonder Why Elephant has a Trunk, Why Monkeys Swing in the Trees, or Why Lion Roars? Well, Tinga Tinga Tales will answer all your why's!

It's a world of stripes and spots, rainbows and patterns. A world where humans don't exist and animals live by their own rules. A world of myth, legend and friendship. A world where you can fly too close to the sun, jump off clouds, and summon musical storms; where you can sing and dance with the dawn chorus, or fall asleep under the Tinga Tinga stars. A magical world where animals transform before your very eyes!

The series was created by Claudia Lloyd, Head of Animation and Children's Programming at Tiger Aspect Productions UK. Tinga Tinga Tales has been entirely produced in East Africa with Tanzanian artists from the Tingatinga Arts Cooperative Society working closely with the animation team to help bring these wonderful stories to life.
