Discovery Channel moves to DStv channel 121 &
Discovery World launches on DStv Channel 250

From 1 March 2010, Discovery Channel will be available for the first time in the general entertainment section of the DStv channel line up and the Discovery portfolio will expand with the launch of Discovery World. Discovery’s move into mainstream entertainment reflects its position as the world’s leading entertainment channel based entirely on factual content.

The move allows Discovery to strengthen its position as the leader in factual content with the launch of the premium factual brand, Discovery World.
Designed for viewers with a keen interest in the world they live in, Discovery World delivers detailed and factual-rich content that unlocks the most inspiring, intriguing and unattainable parts of our world. Its programming is centred on high-end documentaries and immersive series, including SOLVING OLLY STEEDS, MAN ON EARTH, TREASURE QUEST, DANGER HUNTERS AND PRESIDENT’S SUNDAY’S
Discovery World replaces Discovery Channel on DStv channel 250, and viewers can find it on the documentary line up.
These two brands join Animal Planet to diversify Discovery’s African programming offerings. The Discovery portfolio now includes Discovery Channel (channel 121: entertainment), Discovery World (channel 250: lead factual zone) and Animal Planet (channel 264: female audiences).
